Checking Students Out of School: If arrangements have not been made in advance with attendance to pick up a student from school, the parent or guardian must come into the school and have a driver’s license or a picture ID that verifies his or her identity as a custodial parent in order to check the student out of school.

For those new to LAMS this is a great place to prepare for high school and do I dare say college readiness. There are many opportunities for students to grow as leaders for tomorrow through the challenges they will take on and overcome during the course of the school year. LAMS will be initiating next year a Homework and Academic Time (HAT) on Wednesdays during the regular school day. During HAT students may remain in their 7th period to finish homework, attend prearranged help sessions or work on enrichment activities. Regular classes will only be shortened slightly to accommodate for this additional time during HAT. HAT will be tied to 7th period and 7th period will be our last period of the day (Wednesdays only). 7th period was chosen due to the fact that the majority of teachers are instructing during this time. Also students that may be needing additional assistance (based on MAP scores) in ELA or Math will have their ELA or Math classes during 7th period to allow extra time for skills building and targeted instruction. GATE classes will also be during 7th period to allow for additional time for enrichment and passion project activities. Below is an example of what the schedule on Wednesdays will look like next year:
