  • The November/December Read to Feed fundraiser for Heifer International was a great success for LAMS!  Thirty-three seventh and eighth grade students participated by reading books and earning money through pledges.  Over five hundred dollars were donated to Heifer International which purchased a llama, a pig, flocks of ducks, chickens, and geese, bunnies and hives of bees for families in poverty all over the world.  The Friends of Mesa Public Library read an article in the paper about our efforts (12/26/12, LA Monitor), and donated $3.00 book certificates for each student who participated in Read to Feed.  The certificates are for the Friend’s Library Bookstore, located inside the Mesa Library.  Many thanks, once again, to students, parents, staff and teachers who participated in the fund raiser, and especially to Friends of the Library for their generous recognition of our great LAMS scholars!
