1/27: Virtual Hawk Sampler, 5:30pm
Hawk Sampler is an opportunity for students and families to learn more about elective classes. This year, Hawk Sampler will take place virtually. There will be a live portion as well as a videotaped portion. The live portion will consist of information and Q&A. Mrs. Lynne and Mr. Ainsworth will offer a brief message (5:30-5:45) and present the Hawk Sampler webpage. The webpage will have videos from each elective class teacher describing their course.
Before the Hawk Sampler there will be information sessions about GATE and Special Education. The GATE meeting (4:30-5:00pm) is for families whose students currently have a Gifted and Talented Education IEP. The Special Education meeting (5:00-5:30pm) is for families whose students currently have a Special Education IEP.
Links for the Hawk Sampler and GATE and Special Education meetings will be emailed to you.
1/28: Live Elective Q&A, 5:30pm
You may have questions for the elective teachers too. After you watch the videos in the Hawk Sampler webpage, you are invited to join the elective teachers in a live Q&A session the following evening. You will be provided with links to each of the elective classes. You are welcome to visit as many elective classes as you would like between 5:30 and 7:00pm.
PowerSchool will open for Course Selection on Thursday, January 28th and close Friday, February 5th. You can submit elective choices through PowerSchool any time during the open window. While the system is open, between Jan 28-Feb 5, you can re-submit course selections as many times as you would like. After the window closes, PowerSchool will no longer allow changes, and parents will need to contact Rosa Schmitz at r.schmitz@laschools.net, 663-2407, if changes are needed.

Virtual Saturday School

Saturday School will meet this weekend (virtually). Students can use the time to catch up on work, take tests and quizzes, or get general tutoring help. Teachers will be available to answer questions. Sign up students at this link, https://forms.gle/w3yjAPZugbV6f3178.
Registered students will receive an invitation to the Google Classroom and Google Meet for Saturday School.
While we are on the remote learning schedule, Saturday School will be held virtually from 8:30-noon. When Saturday School is able to take place in person, students will be at school for the full 3.5 hours. While it is virtual, students will be able to log off when the work is complete.

Los Alamos Middle School is excited to start the course request process for the 2021-2022 school year. The course catalog will be available online on January 19th at:

1/27: Virtual Hawk Sampler, 5:30pm
Hawk Sampler is an opportunity for students and families to learn more about elective classes. This year, Hawk Sampler will take place virtually. There will be a live portion as well as a videotaped portion. The live portion will consist of information and Q&A. Mrs. Lynne and Mr. Ainsworth will offer a brief message (5:30-5:45) and present the Hawk Sampler webpage. The webpage will have videos from each elective class teacher describing their course.
Before the Hawk Sampler there will be information sessions about GATE and Special Education. The GATE meeting (4:30-5:00pm) is for families whose students currently have a Gifted and Talented Education IEP. The Special Education meeting (5:00-5:30pm) is for families whose students currently have a Special Education IEP.

Hawk Sampler is an opportunity for students and families to learn more about elective classes. This year, Hawk Sampler will take place virtually. There will be a live portion as well as a videotaped portion. The live portion will consist of information and Q&A. Mrs. Lynne and Mr. Ainsworth will offer a brief message (5:30-5:45) and present the Hawk Sampler webpage. The webpage will have videos from each elective class teacher describing their course.
Before the Hawk Sampler there will be information sessions about GATE and Special Education. The GATE meeting (4:30-5:00pm) is for families whose students currently have a Gifted and Talented Education IEP. The Special Education meeting (5:00-5:30pm) is for families whose students currently have a Special Education IEP.

You may have questions for the elective teachers too. After you watch the videos in the Hawk Sampler webpage, you are invited to join the elective teachers in a live Q&A session the following evening. You will be provided with links to each of the elective classes. You are welcome to visit as many elective classes as you would like between 5:30 and 7:00pm.
PowerSchool will open for Course Selection on Thursday, January 28th and close Friday, February 5th. You can submit elective choices through PowerSchool any time during the open window. While the system is open, between Jan 28-Feb 5, you can re-submit course selections as many times as you would like. After the window closes, PowerSchool will no longer allow changes, and parents will need to contact Rosa Schmitz at r.schmitz@laschools.net, 663-2407, if changes are needed.
LAMS staff will do virtual visits to each elementary school on these dates. Your child’s teacher will provide a link to the visit.
