Hiring Process

Once your online employment application is complete, it will be changed to Active and will be considered for employment for which you qualify. A Hiring Committee Member, from school site/department, will contact you to schedule a time to be interviewed.
If you are recommended for employment, a representative of the Human Resources Department will contact you to offer the position and arrange a time to complete the necessary New Hire paperwork. Please note: Only a representative of the Human Resources Department is authorized to make offers of employment.
Orientation: Certified and Classified employees must attend orientation in their first year of employment with the district. Orientation sessions are contractually required of all certificated staff for one year, regardless of date of hire. Classified employees must attend a new employee orientation session following acceptance of employment.

AESOP: A centralized service for securing substitute teachers is provided for all schools. The system being used is AESOP (Automated Educational Substitute Operator). During the hiring process, teachers and substitutes are given a username and PIN. If you did not receive your username and PIN information to log into AESOP, please contact Ramiro “Trey” Pereyra for Substitute username and PIN. AESOP allows you to log in via the web- http://www.frontlinek12.
SUPPORT: If you need assistance with AESOP, you can contact the school secretary, Ramiro “Trey” Pereyra, or AESOP at support@aesoponline.com. Once signed in, AESOP also has a very helpful and effective online chat feature.

Your willingness to give service to Los Alamos Public Schools’ students in all curricular areas is appreciated. As a substitute staff member, you should follow regulations and policies of LAPS. Upon hiring, you will be given information with an option to view or print a Substitute Handbook that covers special regulations, preparation procedures, School Board policies, and more. Please refer to the link under: For Substitutes. Substitutes should also visit the Student Health & Wellness page to review information regarding students with special health considerations. Substitutes should use AESOP to customize configuration rules that will determine when they would like to be notified of a sub request, preferred grade levels, days of availability, preferred working hours and more.
Substitute Teacher Observation Form– to be completed by all interested Substitute Employment Applicants. Two observation hours each needs to be completed at an LAPS Elementary, LAMS and LAHS, total of 6 hours. Please upload your completed Substitute Teacher Observation Form once you have completed the observations within LAPS.
For Teachers: Teachers should request substitutes through the AESOP system. If you do not know your login information or if you need instructions or assistance, contact your school’s front office secretary or Leslie Gallegos at l.gallegos@
